Chess for schools |
The Chess for Schools Project is pleased to be announcing Phase 2 of its project.
This nationwide project, being run in conjunction with Holloid Plastics, has proven to be very popular among schools, and has been extended to allow more schools to re-introduce Chess to their extra-curricular activities.
With around 7,500 Schools currently on the Phase 1 database, and with delivery of sets to these schools in full swing, we are pleased to offer this opportunity to a further 10,000 schools in England.
The project is simple. Holloid Plastics are manufacturing and distributing 10 free sets, in a storable box, to each school that has successfully applied to this project. Application is easy. The Head Teacher of the school needs to complete the application form available from the ECF website and return it to the ECF office, either by fax, post or the submit button. The details on the form will be checked and verified, and the school will receive confirmation of their acceptance / rejection into this project.
The form MUST be completed in full. The Head Teacher can nominate another person as point of contact, and provision has been made for this, but they must complete their details in full and submit the form themselves.
The project is aimed at children aged 7-15 years. Application is open to, but not limited to, the following types of school:
- Junior
- Primary
- First
- Senior
- Secondary
- Middle Upper
- High
- Hospital and PRU’s
The project is open to both state and private schools.
The project is not currently accepting applications from Nursery or Infant Schools, 6th Forms or Technology Colleges. This may change in the future, and any update will be posted on the English Chess Federation website.
The closing date for application to Phase Two of this project is 31st May 2010. Delivery is scheduled to begin September 2010. |
